Real mixed bag this week - different kinds of stuff from England, Germany, France and Denmark.
Amon Düül - Disaster / Lüüd Noma! (1971)

This consists of some of the tapes made during a mammoth recording session in the late 60's. Two earlier albums were released from the same session, "Psychedelic Underground" and "Collapsing - Singvogel Ruckwarts". Released only after Amon Düül II started to get some attention, the members of which weren't thrilled about this getting put out. What is it, though? Experimental? Avante Garde? It surely is chaotic. Maybe it's just a bunch of hippies farting around! You be the judge.
DownloadKraan - Andy Nogger (1975)

Kraan's third album was produced by Conny Plank, and was the first to be released outside of Germany. This group was a collection of excellent musicians, and the style of music was their own, a successful fusion of free jazz, pop, funk, and of course prog. Primarily instrumental and highly energetic. The rhythm section is almost unbelievably good, I mean they really set down some great grooves. The saxophone playing is brilliant and the guitarist is superb. Great stuff all around, highly recommended!

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3Nekropolis - Live (1983)

Peter Frohmader's 1983 band was putting out dark, almost industrial-sounding music somewhere between psychedelic underground and avant-garde rock - if Magma and Guru Guru had a baby it might sound something like this.
DownloadThe Greatest Show On Earth - The Going's Easy (1970)

Hardly a weak moment on this second release by a now all-but-forgotten British band that had a lot in common with American acts Chicago and Blood, Sweat, and Tears. If you like 'horn rock' you should check this one out.
DownloadTaï Phong - Taï Phong (1975)

This first release by French group Taï Phong, which was led by twin brothers from Viet Nam, is lush, highly melodic symphonic prog. Great keyboards, beautiful harmonies, brilliant guitar. Musicianship and production is top-notch. This is actually pretty amazing!
DownloadChicken Shack - Accept (1970)

I have always loved this band, no matter who was in it. Stan Webb is right up there with the great British rock guitarists as far as I am concerned. When their fourth album had it's first CD issue a year or so ago, I just had to have it. I wasn't disappointed to find that there were 13 bonus tracks, B-sides and BBC material.
Part 1 -
Part 2The Old Man And The Sea - Alternative And Unreleased (1972-1973)

Fantastic prog from Denmark! Their only album was posted here on Apr 17, 2006. This bootleg is just what it says - unreleased material and alternate versions.
DownloadThere you have it - as always, comments appreciated!

Nice posts. I guess "s/t" and "wintrup" were the best Kraan's albums and "imagination lady" the best Chicken Shack. Just my opinion (-:

ReplyDeleteDude you ought to start posting these comments in your own language!
Your command of English is too poor for your comments to be shocking or even outrageous, I'm sure that's what you're going for.
Your comments are merely annoying!
Ah, lots of neat albums in this update. That Kraan album is especially enjoyable. As usual, thanks for all the wonderful music!

A month ago I downloaded Greatest Show on Earth's Going's Easy elsewhere but the link was from your site. Thanks Liam, I've been long time looking for this disc (I lost it in 70-ies). What a mighty voice & sound on Borderline, like a hundred fright-trains going from one ear to the other. It should be played very very loud! A pure energy!!!
